Throughout the year, The Regulatory Review highlights key regulatory debates and developments by publishing multi-part series of essays grouped around individual topics or key regulatory developments. We are pleased to highlight all six series published in The Regulatory Review in 2024. The series are arranged below in chronological order.


Global Perspectives on Psychedelics Regulation

April 15, 2024 to April 23, 2024

The Regulatory Review invited scholars around the world to discuss the current and future legal status of psychedelic drugs, particularly relating to their applications in healthcare. These global perspectives offered insights into the different ways policymakers can approach psychedelic regulation.


Moving Administrative Processes Forward, Together

July 1, 2024 to July 4, 2024

At its 80th plenary session, ACUS adopted recommendations that provide agencies with best practices related to agency adjudication, public engagement with administrative processes, and user fees in administrative programs. The Regulatory Review invited the experts who helped develop these recommendations to share their insights.


The Supreme Court’s 2023-2024 Regulatory Term

July 15, 2024 to August 8, 2024

The Regulatory Review invited leading scholars and lawyers to assess the U.S. Supreme Court’s regulatory decisions from its most recently concluded term, including Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, SEC v. Jarkesy, and Trump v. United States.


Commemorating Howard Kunreuther

August 26, 2024 to September 19, 2024

The Regulatory Review published reflections by a wide range of scholars on the life and legacy of the late Howard Kunreuther, a Wharton economist and faculty affiliate of the Penn Program on Regulation who produced pioneering work in the fields of insurance, behavioral economics, and risk analysis.


Seeking Continuous Improvement to the Administrative Process

November 11, 2024 to November 14, 2014

At its 81st plenary session, ACUS adopted recommendations related to regulatory guidance, administrative adjudication, judicial review of agency rules, and agency responsiveness to congressional constituent service requests. The Regulatory Review invited the experts who participated in developing these recommendations to share their insights.
